An Expensive Hobby

Watches. A potentially expensive hobby, and dangerously addictive.

When it comes to expensive watches, brands like Blancpain, Ulysse Nardin and Patek Philippe spring to mind. Most watches from any of those brands are truly classic, time-tested (pun unintended) and desirable timepieces.

Shown above, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is an absolutely stunning work of art. At present, this watch can only be a pipe dream for me. Is there something more achievable in the short term? When spending multiples of a grand on watches, a name not too commmonly thought of is Seiko. They have a reputation for making low priced (for the quality you get) watches, however, they do make watches in the range of thousands as well.

The MARINEMASTER 300, one of Seiko's most highly regarded watch. This beauty doesn't come cheap as well, but it certainly is many magnitudes cheaper than the Blancpain. More to come next time, about the watches I currently own!
